Baby, Let Me Rock You to Sleep

Happy Birthday to my sweet, funny, smart Jacob! In honor of his 8th birthday, I wanted to share a song I wrote for him when he was a baby. One night as I was rocking him to sleep I felt like Heaven let me catch the vision of my role as his mother. I saw not only my tiny baby who needed me to rock him to sleep that night, but a little boy who would still need me, in different ways, as a teenager. I imagined my Jakey all grown up as well and how I would need him someday. A song started forming in my mind and I began singing it softly to him. As soon as baby Jacob had drifted off to sleep, I ran (literally) downstairs to my piano and finished writing this lullaby.

In 2008 I was in Nashville recording the album "Up Kind of Day" with Marla Cilley, the FlyLady. We were able to have this song recorded at Omni Studios as a possible track for the CD. I was blown away with this recording and with Eric Dodge's incredible vocals. Thanks to John Carter (Thirteen/Eight Productions) for the final mix as well. I'm not very current on my scrapbooks or my kids' journals, but I hope Jacob realizes how much his momma loves him each time he hears this song. Happy Birthday Jakers!
